Actress Shriya Pilgaonkar is ready to enthrall viewers with her gritty new character of Inspector Devika in the new ZEE5 original series, Chhal Kapat: The Deception. For promotion, Shriya was recently seen in Lucknow, bringing a blend of grit and glamour to the City of Nawabs, while giving fans a glimpse into her complex character.
Elegantly dressed in costume and radiating with charm, Shriya not only charmed the audience but also had a very intense interaction with genuine women police officers of Uttar Pradesh, such as ADG Padmaja Chauhan. The trip involved a tour of the 1090 Women Power Line, an important helpline for women safety and assistance. This allowed Shriya to experience deeply the lives of female officers—their resilience, challenges, and strength—giving her powerful authenticity to portray Inspector Devika.
It was humbling and eye-opening,” Shriya explained. “Learning what these women endure every day gave me a different perspective on how I dealt with Devika’s character in Chhal Kapat. She’s not just a police officer—she’s a survivor, a guardian, and a woman dealing with her own emotional history.”
Regarding the Series: Chhal Kapat – The Deception
Against the dark setting of a small village in Burhanpur, Chhal Kapat: The Deception unfolds at what appears to be a festive wedding of bride-to-be Alisha with old school friends—Mehak, Ira, and Shalu. But festivities take a sinister turn when it is discovered that Shalu, an upcoming social media influencer, has been found dead under mysterious circumstances.
The show is soon unwound as a thrilling psychological thriller, with secrets being unveiled and relationships put to the test. With each of them having something to hide, the investigation lies on the shoulders of Inspector Devika, portrayed by Shriya Pilgaonkar, who possesses a haunting history and cutting-edge instincts to solve the case.
Devika’s character, shaped by her own experience as a domestic abuse survivor, adds emotional depth and moral clarity to the storyline. Her intuition and empathy allow her to uncover the layers of deceit hidden behind smiling faces and perfect friendships.
