Genelia Deshmukh, back at Aamir Khan Productions after the much-preferred Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, was open about her experience. “I’m happy to be with Aamir Khan Productions again. Jaane Tu. was unique—it gave me the persona of Aditi. This time, I come back as a different person and an actor. I’m privileged to have played Sunita in Sitaare Zameen Par,” she said, looking back.
Aamir Khan, playing opposite Genelia in this tearful tale, was with praise. “The camera adores her. She illuminates the screen the moment she appears,” Khan averred. “Right from her first film, Genelia gave a perfect performance. She’s been giving natural, real, and strong performances all the while. Her character in this one is pivotal—Sunita’s relationship with my character, Gulshan, is the core of the movie’s heart.”
Khan also discussed his character in detail, saying, “Gulshan is emotionally immature and has issues with relationships—particularly with his wife, Sunita. The chemistry between Genelia and me actually helped to bring that about. It is great working with a good actor like her because every scene feels more real.
Director R.S. Prasanna, who is most famous for his sensitive storytelling, shared the same opinion. “Both Aamir and Genelia are very emotional and natural. That honesty comes out on the screen. As a director, it’s a pleasure to just lend such actors your support and allow the story to breathe.”
