Actress Huma Qureshi recently shared the teaser for a web series titled Maharani that will premiere on streaming giant Sony LIV. She is playing the protagonist in the series which seems to have taken inspiration from real-life incidents. During the 90s in Bihar, politician Lalu Prasad Yadav elected his wife Rabri Devi as his successor and she served as the CM of the state from 1997 to 2005. The premise of Maharani looks loosely inspired by that.
The teaser for Maharani introduced Huma‘s character as Rani Bharti, a homemaker who is a sincere wife. Things pick up pace when her husband, who is the CM of Bihar resigns. She is then announced as his successor and people are shocked by this change. The series will follow her journey as a politician.

This will be Huma’s second OTT show after Leila on Netflix. She also featured in Zee Zest‘s new show ‘Fit Fab Feast’ which documented her life as a celebrity. No release date of Maharani has been revealed yet but it will be out in 2021 on Sony LIV.
