The controversy surrounding the upcoming film Udta Punjab, a film on the drug menace in Punjab, refuses to die down, what with several B-town celebrities defending the film and its makers in their standoff with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

Versatile actor Sharad Kelkar has also voiced his opinion very strongly surrounding the controversy stating, “I strongly protest and support the people protesting because I believe it’s very wrong to remove too many scenes that make sense and gives a meaning to the film. Everyone should have the freedom to present their art.”

“I don’t understand what’s happening to this country. As a creative individual, one must have the freedom to present an art and there are all disclaimers since the beginning only and after all those disclaimers if you still have to think while giving the certificate or make too many cuts, it removes the soul of the film,” Sharad adds.
