Sreemoyee Piu Kundu launches her book Sita's Curse

Mumbai: Journalist turned writer Sreemoyee Piu Kundu launched her book Sita’s Curse at Hotel Le Sutra in Union Park, Khar West today. Seen in attendance at the launch were theatre personality Mahabanoo Mody Kotwal, actors Adil Hussain and Priyanka Bose all of whom read out pieces from the book. Among others who came to cheer Sreemoyee included Alex O Neil, Gulaab Gang director Soumik Sen, publisher Nandita Aggarwal from Hachette, Ananya Dutta among many others.

Sita’s Curse looks at love, longing, sex, sexuality and sin through the eyes of a 40-year-old, protagonist Mrs. Meera Patel who lives in a congested housing society… somewhere in the midst of Mumbai. Meera’s metamorphosis from a naïve girl from a small town in Gujarat, married off at 17 to a man she’s never met in Mumbai to a woman who’s fearless in seeking the fulfillment of her desires, both emotional and physical, is expressed through an explosively sexual saga. The novel reaches its culmination on July 26, 2005 in a climax that is both agonizingly adult and yet addictively adventurous.
