Mumbai: Short Takes is back with a bang in its 4th season this year. This hugely popular short film contest is organised every year by Pocket Films in association with the Indian Film Festival, Stuttgart Germany (earlier known as Bollywood and Beyond).

The participants are in for a bonanza this year with a cash prize being introduced for the first time. The winning film maker shall win a cash prize of Rs. 50,000 and along with the 2nd and 3rd place winner will get a walk in entry to compete for the “German Star of India – Best Short Film Award” at the festival in Germany (to be held in July 2014) and additional cash prize of 1,000 Euros.

“The contest has grown every year and is very popular amongst professional film makers and students alike. We are also planning a Mumbai chapter of the Indian Film Festival, Stuttgart, for screening this year’s winning films at the festival and facilitate the winners of this contest” says Mr. Saameer Mody, Managing Director of Pocket Films.

Prominent film director, producer and screenwriter Mr. Mahesh Bhatt will grace the jury along with award winning film director Mr. Vinod Ganatra and festival programmer and curator Mrs. Uma Da Cunha grace the jury of this contest.

Participants are invited to submit their short films under 15 minutes in duration. These films have to be made by an Indian or produced in India. The film can be of any genre and in any language but requires subtitles in English. Films can be submitted online on www.pocketfilms.in or can also be submitted offline.

Participants also have the fantastic option of distributing their film through Pocket Films, India’s leading distributor of Alternate content, not only to increase the viewership of their film but also earn through revenue sharing. Participants selecting the distribution option are entitled to a 50% discount on the submission fees.

The last date for submissions for the contest is 20th April 2014.
