Call it fate, call it destiny, call it providence, whatever it’s just the omnipotent Hand of God that rocks the cradle of the world. As was the case on the fateful 15th day of April 2016 when an earthquake of monstrous enormity struck in Japan.
Bigg Boss 9 contestant, Mandana Karimi, left for the Land of the Rising Sun on April 8 with her mother and brother. They had planned a 10-day break, but had to make a hurried exit after an earthquake of magnitude 6.2, hit Japan on April 15, cutting their vacation short by two days.
The trip was going off like a dream with the cherry blossoms in full bloom at Ginza near Tokyo. The Iranian model-actress enjoyed several memorable picnics under the flowering trees and animated Japanese features during her visit to the country that has fascinated her since she was a child. Then, the quake struck! “I was in my room after dinner when suddenly the doors and win dows started rattling.
I was irritated with the neighbours for making a racket and called up reception asking that they check on them. Then my brother called to inform me about the earthquake,“ she recalls the unforgettable night.
When the locals warned them that there were chances of the quake recurring, they immediately changed their travel plans and left for Mumbai on April 16.
