Mumbai: After a successful Masterclass with director Imtiaz Ali, Humaramovie, a cutting-edge digital content studio, recently hosted the second edition with the writer-director Sriram Raghavan at YouTube Space Mumbai, Whistling Woods International.

The Masterclass started with the screening of Raghavan’s critically acclaimed film Johnny Gaddaar. The screening was followed by Q & A session with the director and the editor, Pooja Surti moderated by Vinay Mishra, one of the founders of Humaramovie along with Pallavi Rohatgi and Preety Ali.

Talking about the screening and the interactive session with the audience, the renowned filmmaker known for films like Badlapur, Raman Raghav, Ek Hasina Thi and Johnny Gaddar said, “It was simply wonderful revisiting JOHNNY GADDAAR after so many years. I watched it on the big screen at Whistling Woods with a large audience, including many who were seeing it for the first time. The event organized by Humaramovie was followed by a Master Class about the film, focusing on various aspects of it’s making. We spoke about the story, references, casting, shooting the train sequence, the use of the color red and more. The viewers were an enthusiastic bunch and the Q & A that followed brought back many memories and made the evening totally worth it. Green tea for the soul. Thanks, Humaramovie and I look forward to rewatching works by other filmmakers in the programme.”

Johnny Gaddaar is neo-noir thriller film written and directed by Mr. Raghavan that marked the debut of Neil Nitin Mukesh. The film is about how a Police Officer recounts a tale of missing money which results in lies, deceit, betrayal, and death. Apart from Neil, the film brought together an ensemble cast that includes Dharmendra, Zakir Hussain, Rimi Sen, Vinay Pathak, Govind Namdeo, Dayanand Shetty and Ashwini Kalsekar.

Vinay Mishra, Co-founder of Humaramovie says, ‘It was a great interaction with Sriram, a master of the thriller domain. A very engaging session where questions on script, form, acting, visuals, references were freely discussed. A great moviemaker made for a very engrossing Masterclass.”

The first Masterclass that was organized by Humaramovie was held in January with director Imtiaz Ali post the screening of his super-hit romantic film Jab We Met.

Synopsis of Johnny Gaddaar

Plain-clothed police officers, on patrol in a police van in Mumbai’s Khar Danda area, recount the story of five crooks: Sheshadari, Shiva, Prakash, Vikram, Shardul, and their Police Inspector friend, Kalyan. The tale revolves around a bag containing 2.5 Crore Rupees that goes missing – resulting in lies, deception, betrayal, and death.
