Pahlaj Nihalani, CBFC, publicity tool, Julie 2

The former CBFC (Censor Board of Film Certification) chairman Pahlaj Nihalani was present at the trailer launch of Julie 2 on Monday. During media interaction, he said, we won’t be using CBFC as a publicity tool for the film.

As a member of CBFC Nihalani was known to bring conservative films and now he is presenting a bold and beautiful film, does it seem fair when asked to comment on the same Nihalani said, “I am cultured and I will remain so. India is such a place where you are nothing if not cultured. And you can ask me this question again when you have actually seen the film. This is an adult film we will accept an A certification from CBFC. We won’t be using CBFC as a publicity tool for the film. We will accept whatever the board suggests.

Julie 2 has a very bold poster, a very bold trailer and a very bold promotion going on, if any other filmmakers in spite of similar situations would have said the story is something different and not really what it may seem the board wouldn’t have passed the film, when asked to comment on the same Pahlaj Nihalani said, Every film has a diff story and different marketing. When you had asked me these questions I had a different role to follow, I was on the other side of the table. Now I am a producer.

Nothing has changed in CBFC everything is still the same. My film will also go through the board we will see what happens. I said this earlier also I am not going to use CBFC as a publicity tool. I don’t want the industry’s support or their sympathy. I don’t need to fight with the board I will accept the decision the board will make for Julie 2.”

‘Julie 2’ presented by Pahlaj Nihalani and Triumph Talkies stars Raai Laxmi and Ravi Kishan. Raai plays the title character in the thriller film.

The film is scheduled to be released on October 6th, 2017.
