Bollywood stalwarts and socially responsible celebrities like Anupam Kher, Riteish Deshmukh, Rajat Sharma and many more have expressed their grief over the recent unfortunate stampede at Elphinstone Train station.
The tragedy took place amid rain in the city around 10.40 am today, 29th September, when the foot over-bridge was heavily crowded, At least 22 people have been killed and 30 injured in a stampede on foot over-bridge linking Elphinstone Road and Parel suburban stations in Mumbai. Emergency relief and medical teams were rushed to the station.
Bollywood actor and producer Riteish Deshmukh wrote on social media, “Weak infra + Overcrowded bridges/Places = Ticking Time Bombs…Wake up!! This is not the price to pay to learn a lesson #Elphinstone”
Anupam Kher expressed his grief over the incident, he wrote, “Horrified, saddened & jolted by the deaths & injuries caused due to the stampede at #Elphinstone station in Mumbai. Prayers & condolences.”
Popular Television Anchor Rajat Sharma expressed his shock, he wrote, “Shocked at the unfortunate stampede near Mumbai’s #Elphinstone Station. My prayers for the kin of those dead and injured.”
The Chief Minister of Maharashtra Mr. Devendra Fadnavis also expressed his grief on the unfortunate incident and announced the compensation for the deceased.
“5 lakh announced for the next of the kins of deceased and all the medical expenses of the injured will be borne by GoM. #Elphinstone” Tweeted Mr. Davendra Fadnavis.
