Mumbai: Writer-Director Insia Dariwala’s latest flick Cock-Tale won Golden Camera Award in 6th Nashik International Film Festival, NIFF 2014. This Indie film-maker is back with Cock-Tale after award winning Candy Man which won her two Best Director awards in India and was also nominated at the New York Short Film Festival & Barcelona International Film Festival in 2010. Like Candy Man, Insia again choose a hard-hitting subject. In the present social context where every minute close to 24 women are raped around the world, Cock-Tale is reply to this society.

Cock-Tale is a chilling drama which unfolds in a small village that houses both a saint, and a sinner. Apoorva is a young, middle-class village girl who nurtures big city dreams; dreams that also include becoming a doctor and saving her mother from a terminal heart disease. Unfortunately, one night, throwing caution to the wind, Apoorva makes the mistake of venturing into the den of Umesh-a man most known for his eccentricities and weird pets. However, what she and no one else know is that this otherwise reticent man harbours some dark, dirty secrets in his house. One such secret rocks Apoorva’s world, but just as she is reeling from the shock, Umesh walks in on her. There is no escape now as Umesh unleashes his world of debauchery. What follows next is a bizarre game of survival between good and evil.

“This film is my unheard voice, it is the voice of millions of women across the world who have been raped, molested, and brutally tortured every day. It is for all those survivors who wish, hope and pray for justice every minute of their lives,” elaborates Insia.

Insia has also directed documentary film ‘Surviving Deonar’ and was Co-directed award winning international documentary ‘17 Not Required Indians’, which recently also won a Special Mention at MIFF 2014.
