Filmmaker Apoorva Lakhia interacted with media to ahead the release of his upcoming film Haseena Parkar. While interacting with media, Apoorva stated that Bombay is the fourth character of his film.

When asked films’ plot and how it revolves around Mumbai then used to be Bombay, Lakhia said, “In our film, we have shown 40 years of Mumbai. Right form 1970 till 2013 when case of Haseena Parkar closed down so in that period there are incidents like Bombay Bomb Blasts, Bombay riots, effect of demolition of Babri Masjid. In our film’s journey Bombay is the fourth character of the film”.

“It’s a journey of a girl who had 12 siblings, her father was police constable and she used to live in 12 by 12 feet room in a chawl but she didn’t had any idea that one day she would become the ‘Haseena Parkar’. She was happy that she was married at the age of 17 because she wanted progress and freedom in her life. She faced lot of struggle all her life. Her husband was killed and she was alone when her entire family left the country after bomb blast in the city so I found this story really interesting because this is a woman’s struggle to live life on her own terms”.
Lakhia’s most films revolves around gangster film genre, when asked him whether he particularly likes to work in this genre, he said, “No.. if you see my 5 films then actually each film is different but there is one common thread that all my films goes into underbelly and dark zone be it Shootout at Lokhandwala, Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost and Ek Ajnabee . I like to do films which involves research and present real life characters for whom audience have certain kind of curiosity or connection. It’s not a conscious decision that I will do only gangster film but somehow my films goes into that zone”

Talking about working with Shraddha Kapoor, he said, “I mostly work in hardcore films which includes swagger, high speed shots and all that. I only work with male actors but for this film, I thought it will be challenge for me to transform Shraddha like Sajnay Dutt or Salman Khan because she is playing a don and for that you need that kind of power”

So now I have become big fan Shraddha Kapoor. After watching her work in Haseena Parkar, I seriously feel that she has scope of becoming one of the best actresses of our country because she is really serious about her work and hardworking”

When asked Apoorva, will he ever make films apart from gangster film genre, he said, “I know one thing that I can’t do comedy because it’s really tough. For doing comedy you need to think something else only and I will not do horror films because I am not interested in that so other than this I can try if I get an interesting subject”.

When asked Apoorva whether he will enter into digital space, he said, “I haven’t thought of this as of now but in future why not. The world is open and India is a great place to be in right now creatively”

Hassena Parkar stars Sharaddha Kapoor, Siddhant Kapoor and Ankur Bhatia in lead roles. It is releasing on 22 September, 2017.
