Amidst the time of the corona virus pandemic, the OTT platforms have greatly benefited from it and made it a game-changer. The streaming services have not only made films more accessible but also made a variety of new releases affordable with the comfort of watching it at your own home.
Although it is not unusual for streaming services to release original content on their websites and apps, the COVID-19 lock down era observed a change in this practice. That is because many films which were scheduled for big releases i.e. on multiplexes have now shifted to an OTT release. Although the ban on cinema halls is slowly being lifted, the lock down crisis has undoubtedly benefited the digital space a lot.

1. Laxmmi Bomb

The trailer for the upcoming Akshay Kumar blockbuster was recently released. The fan base of the actor is extremely excited to see him venture into the horror-comedy genre through an unconventional role of a man who gets possessed by a transgender ghost. The film will release on Disney+ Hotstar on 9 November 2020.
2. Durgavati

G Ashok’s horror thriller film Durgavati starring Bhumi Pednekar was also announced to release on the digital space. The film is a remake of a south Indian film titled Bhaagamathie. Bhumi will be playing the role of an IAS officer in it. It is all set to release on Amazon Prime Video from 11 December 2020.
3. Chhalaang

Starring Rajkumar Rao and Nushrratt Baharuccha Chhalaang has been directed by renowned filmmaker Hansal Mehta. Not much has been revealed about the film other than the fact that it will be a black comedy film with a social message. It will be releasing on Amazon Prime Video during Diwali on 13 November 2020.
4. Coolie No. 1

This anticipated family entertainer is going to be David Dhawan’s 45th film. It is a remake of the 1995 film of the same name featuring Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan. Originally meant for a theatrical release, ‘Coolie No. 1’ will release on 25th December 2020 on Amazon Prime Video.
5. The Big Bull

Based on the real-life incident of a financial scam committed during the 90s by Harshad Mehta, Big Bull will star Abhishek Bachchan in the lead role. Directed by Kookie Gulati, it will also feature Ileana D’Cruz and Samir Soni. It will stream on Disney+ Hotstar from 23rd October 2020.
