Vidya Balan’s powerful short film ‘Natkhat’ gets qualified for an Oscar nomination!

‘Natkhat’ tackles some hard-hitting issues like toxicity in misogyny and the importance of gender equality.

‘Natkhat’ a compelling short film featuring Vidya Balan as the lead garnered a lot of acclaimed and won many prestigious awards since it’s release. It also won a prize at the 3rd Best Of India Short Film Festival 2020. It has recently been announced that the movie has now become eligible to take part in the Oscar race for 2021.

The leading lady from ‘Natkhat’ herself, Vidya Balan shared this major news on her Instagram handle. Her post said, “Yay!! I’m over the moon. So grateful. Short film Natkhat featuring Vidya Balan bags the winning trophy at ShortsTV’s Best of India Short Film Festival 2020! The film is now eligible for Oscar Consideration and wins a grand prize of $2,500!”

Apart from starring in the film, this was Vidya’s first time co-producing the project as well. ‘Natkhat’ tackles some hard-hitting issues like toxicity in misogyny and the importance of gender equality. It is centered around a mother and her son. Directed by Shaan Vyas, Ronnie Screwvala was one of the other producers.
