Bollywood has always loved good biopics. Unfortunately, it is not often that female lead stories are given a big-screen treatment. You would be glad to hear that times are changing and now we have many upcoming films that will tell stories of strong fierce women. In honour of International Women’s Day, we would like to highlight some of the upcoming women-centric biopics.

1. Saina
This biopic is going to be sport centric as it is about the star sportswoman from India, Saina Nehwal. Parineeti Chopra is essaying the lead role and the film will capture the entire journey oh how Saina became an internationally renowned badminton player. Saina is releasing on the silver screens on 26 March 2021.
2. Thalaivi
This Biographical film is going to be based on the life of J Jayalalithaa a former film actress and a politician from Tamil Nadu. Actress Kangana Ranaut will be playing the lead role in the film which is being directed by AL Vijay. The film is going to be multilingual as it got shot in three languages I.E.Hindi Tamil and Telugu under the same title. Thalaivi we will be releasing theatrically on 23 April 2021.
3. Shabaash Mithu

It was last year that actress Taapsee Pannu confirmed that she will be starring in a biopic based on the life of renowned female cricketer Mithali Raj. She also shared the first look for the same. Mithali is the former captain of Indian women’s national cricket team in Tests and ODI series. She is regarded as one of the highest run-scorers in women’s international cricket. The sportswoman is also the only woman to surpass the 6000 run mark in WODI’s.
4. Gangubai Karthiawadi
Gangubai Kathiawadi is going to be a biographical crime film. Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali actress Alia Bhatt will be essaying the lead role in the film. It is based on the chapter from the book called Mafia queens of Mumbai which was written by Hussain Zaidi. The teaser for the same also released recently. Gangubai Kathiawadi is releasing in July 2021.
