Mumbai: Emraan Hashmi will be seen in Dharma Productions’ Ungli – a sleek, edgy, vigilante drama directed by Rensil D’Silva. If sources are to be believed, he signed the film for two reasons – first, the script and its approach to friendship and angst of youth and second, he was very excited to work alongside his favourite hero – Sanjay Dutt.
Emraan Hashmi has always wanted to work with the esteemed superstar Dutt and with Ungli, the dream has come true. The actor, who is a neighbour to Sanjay Dutt, reminisces sneaking into the superstar’s preview theatres to watch films during private screenings in his younger days. In fact, one may call it a co-incidence but the two own the exact same model of car.
On the sets too, Emraan was enamoured every time Dutt performed. What amazed the actor was that Sanjay Dutt never rehearsed lines and always gave impromptu performances in his signature style.
Says Emraan Hashmi, “In a way it was a dream come true to work with Sanjay Dutt on Ungli…Not only is he a great actor but an extremely warm person who manages to captivate you with every performance.Not many know this but my grandmother also played Sanjay Dutt’s grandmother in “Naam” ,which was her last film and I remember sneaking into preview screenings at Ajanta Arts with my friends to watch the film”.
Dharma Productions’ Ungli directed by Rensil D’Silva is scheduled to release 28th November 2014.
