It is a common narrative that anything which has been inspired or remade from an original show is bound to be not as good. However, in the current times where the digital space is being given the much-needed importance with regards to his quality films and shows, this stereotype is also fading away slowly.

We bet you didn’t know about these Indian shows which are based on foreign serials and did pretty well on their respective streaming platforms.

1. Your Honor

The courtroom drama show is based on an Israeli show titled ‘Kvodo’. ‘Your Honor’ centres around the life of a renowned judge from Ludhiana named Bishan Khosla. He undergoes a change in his moral compass when his own son is found guilty in a hit and run case. This intense and highly captivating show stars Jimmy Shergill in the lead and is available to stream on Sony LIV.

2. Hostages

This Sudhir Mishra directorial is a crime thriller series which was based on another Israeli show of the same name. Starring Tisca Chopra, Ronit Roy, Parvin Dabas, Aashim Gulati and Mohan Kapoor, revolved around the life of a surgeon who is supposed to perform a routine operation of a chief minister. A night before the event, her family gets taken hostage. It is available on Disney+ Hotstar.

3. Mind The Malhotras

Mind The Malhotra follows the life of a whacky family which is charming yet weird in their own ways.  The story picks up the pace when the couple Shefali and Rishabh Malhotra decide to consult a therapist after another twosome in their group of friends reveal that they are getting divorced. It is based on the show titled La Famiglia from Israel. You can stream it on Amazon Prime Video.

4. Out of Love

The show follows the life of a couple named Meera and Akarsh. The former begins to suspect the later of having an affair with his female associate after discovering unavoidable evidence. She continues to look for more hits to catch him red-handed. It stars Rasika Dugal and Purab Kohli and has been adapted from the British show called Doctor Foster.

5. Aarya

This empowering female-centric crime drama is directed by Ram Madhvani and marked Sushmita Sen’s debut in the digital space. She stars as the protagonist in the show whose life goes through a drastic change as she ends up getting caught in the whirlwind of crime and all things illegal. It is based on the Dutch show called Penoza. It can be streamed on Disney+ Hotstar.
