Mumbai: Eros International & Colour Yellow Productions’ Tanu Weds Manu Returns recently made a grand entry into the 200 cr club worldwide , with domestic collections currently standing at 150.03 cr in India.
The family entertainer directed by Aanand L Rai, starring R.Madhavan and Kangana Ranaut among others, passed the litmus test with flying colors, achieving several milestones along the way.
Having collected a stupendous 150 cr in India, Tanu Weds Manu Returns (with its cost of production including print & advertising at Rs. 30 cr), officially stands the highest grossing film of 2015 so far, both in terms of domestic and overseas box office collections.
With worldwide collections of approximately 250 cr, the country’s most successful sequel, was also the fastest entry into the 100 cr club this year.
Despite the release of several big ticket films, Tanu Weds Manu Returns, had the highest second, third and fourth week collections (46.66 cr,12.28cr,19.96 cr and 5.1 cr respectively)*. The film also managed to achieve the unthinkable when it grossed 28.3 cr on its second weekend, a figure not many films see even in their opening weekend.
The film was also the highest grosser in North America, UK and Australia in 2015.
