Ponniyin Selvan: Mani Ratnam’s upcoming project with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to resume shooting from September

Ratnam’s team is waiting for a green light from the government.

It has been alleged that Mani Ratnam’s upcoming period drama titled ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ will resume shooting from September 2020. The director will reportedly shoot the film in Pune with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and superstar from the south Chiyaan Vikram. Although the aforementioned news has only surfaced on the rumour mills and no official sources have confirmed it yet.

However, as the coronavirus pandemic has put a stop to so many things in the country, Ratnam’s team is waiting for a green light from the government, so that they are permitted to shoot in Pune. Maharashtra is one of the highly affected COVID-19 states in India.

Some parts of the film, ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ will also be shot in Hyderabad. It is said that the forthcoming period drama will also have actresses like Sobhita Dhulipala and Aditi Rao Hydari in significant roles. Meanwhile, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will be the antagonist in the film, named Nandini and Chiyaan Vikram will play the character of Aditya Karikalan.

Another buzz around the film is that it probably will release in 2 parts, while the first part is still under works, the second part can release during 2021.
