Odissi film ‘Kalira Atita’ by Nila Madhab Panda now a part of Oscars 2021

Director Nila Madhab Panda was the one who broke the news about ‘Kalira Atita’ being nominated for such honour through his Twitter account.

Odissi film titled ‘Kalira Atita’, which translates to Yesterday’s Past has officially become part of the Academy Awards 2021 or Oscars. Directed by  Nila Madhab Panda, the film has been nominated in categories like Best Director, Best Actor and Best Picture and so on. The film was also screened at the International Film Festival of India this year.

Director Nila Madhab Panda was the one who broke the news about ‘Kalira Atita’ being nominated for such honour through his Twitter account. His tweet said, “In a year full of challenges, feel extremely happy to announce #KaliraAtita has made its entry into the Oscar race in general entry category 4 best picture, Best Actor, Best Director & many other categories. It’s being made available for academy screening, Grateful to everyone”

‘Kalira Atita’ stars Pitobash Tripathy in the lead role. The film talks about the horrifying truth of rising sea level due to climate change because of which many villages set up on India’s eastern coastline in Odisha are disappearing. As it is now part of the ‘Academy Screening Room’, members of the Jury will soon view it and draw in their votes.
