London to honor D.D.L.J by placing a bronze statue at Leicester Square on its 25 year anniversary

As the superhit Bollywood classic Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge or DDLJ is hitting it’s 25 year anniversary, a bronze statue of two of the lead actors i.e. Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan will be revealed at Leicester Square, London. In fact, the statue will be of one of the scenes which originally got shot in Leicester Square itself!

Apart from DDLJ, other films like Harry Potter, Laurel and Hardy, Bugs Bunny, Mary Poppins, Mr Bean, Paddington, Wonder Woman, Batman and Singin’ in the Rain will also be honoured at the square. The film was directed by Aditya Chopra and featured Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in the lead role as it released on 20 October 1995. Owing to its depiction of NRI culture, the film gained an international status and earned a fan following in the overseas.
