The CEO of Dharma Productions Apoorva Mehta says that his friendship with filmmaker Karan Johar is from school days and they are friends forever.
During his exclusive interaction, Apoorva Mehta shed some lights on his friendship with Karan Johar. He said, Our friendship started in 6th Standard in school. On time principal asked who wants to Karans friend, and I raised my hand. We both remember this incident till date and at times laugh about it. From that day onwards till now we are together and we can also say that I and Karan Johar are friends forever
Apoorva Mehta also adds that now his conversation with Karan Johar is more about business but their friendship is rock solid.
He said, Everyone has seen Karans growth, he was really shy in school and now he is out there, talks to everyone, I dont think there a better speaker in the entertainment industry than Karan Johar. He is king of all trades, now we talk more about business but our love and friendship is as strong as ever.
Dharma Production is a name to reckon with, the production house has given us movies like Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gam, Kuch Kuch Hota Hain, Badrinath Ki Dulhania, and numerous more.
Talking about the appreciation and love Dharma productions films garner, Apoorva said, I think we people have been fortunate that we have Karan Johar, his creative knowledge is amazing, and that is the reason such brilliant films are coming out of our production house and reaching audience and we all are very thankful to the audience for this love and appreciation
Further adding Apoorva said he handles the non-creative aspect of business and Karan Johar handles the creative aspect. He said, Karan Johar handles the creative department completely, and I handle the non-creative things, such as distribution, finance, planning, production etc.
Dharma production is gearing for their most awaited film, Simmba, which is first ever collaboration between Rohit Shetty and Karan Johar.
Talking about working with Rohit Shetty, Apoorva quipped, We all are big fans of Rohit Shetty, and for us, it’s a privilege to work with him. Personally and professionally we all are extremely happy. The combination of Karan Johar and Rohit Shetty is extraordinary
Last year Karan Johar was accused of Nepotism by Kangana Ranaut and now Aproova Mehta shares his thoughts on the whole issue.
He said, A bankers child becomes a banker, jewellers child become a jeweller, and if some actors child becomes an actor, what is wrong with that? On the other hand, there are so many actors, who are not from the industry, such as Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Shah Rukh Khan, the list is endless. They all are doing so well. If you do good work in the industry, youll definitely get the desired results.
Talking about Dharma Productions future ventures, Apoorva said, Now we have started DHARMATIC – A digital platform and on the other hand we got lots of projects ready for release. Films like Drive, Kesari, Kalank, Student of The Year 2, Good News, Brahmastra and there are few untitled projects as well
