We have always been taught to root for the protagonist whenever we watch a film. However, the villains have been so iconic in some of the Bollywood movies that they have been remembered more than the heroes years after the release of the film.

1. Rauf Lala (Agneepath)

Rishi Kapoor wasn’t usually seen in notorious roles during the time he did films. However, his role as Rauf Lala created a major impact upon the audience and they appreciated the kind of aura he created for himself through this out-of-the-box role.

2. Chhedi Singh (Dabangg)

He might be a messiah in real life but no one plays the role of an antagonist better than Sonu Sood. Although he has done many negative roles in the Indian cinema, the one that stood out was Chhedi Singh from Salman Khan starrer Dabangg. To this date, many of his dialogues from the movie are remembered by the audience thoroughly.

3. Shakaal (Shaan)

Actor Kulbhushan Kharbanda has always looked his best while playing dark roles. In the movie Shaan, it was his first time playing the role of a villain. Many were equally impressed and terrified when it was revealed that Shakaal keeps sharks and crocodiles on his island. Undoubtedly, his role created such an impact that he is still ruling the screens in the digital age with the role of Bauji in the Mirzapur franchise.

4. Gabbar Singh (Sholay)

One of the most celebrated films from the Indian cinema, Sholay had one of the very best villains in it i.e. Gabbar Singh. Amjad Khan’s screen presence and iconic dialogues still make everyone extremely excited whenever his role is mentioned in any conversation.

5. Alauddin Khilji (Padmaavat)

It was Ranveer Singh’s very first time playing an antagonistic role. Prior to this, he had always been hailed as a hero. Fans weren’t disappointed one bit when they saw his gritty and ruthless side and they appreciated the actor for being supremely versatilee.
