Influencer Hannah Sims is changing the mindset of people and getting their attention to personal fitness. She believes, be it personal fitness or social transformation, that change is possible one step at a time.

“If you don’t want to do something, you will find an excuse and if you want to do something, you will find a way, ” says Hannah Sim, a fitness trainer, lifestyle management coach, and health influencer in one of her many avidly watched YouTube videos. For a young girl who weighed over 90 kgs, to transform into a 46 kg athlete, and to win the Oxfam Trailwalker Challenge, and earn over 10 international fitness certifications could not have been easy but then as Hannah says, excuses were not an option and the reasons to make a change were compelling.

It is often said that only by changing ourselves can we change the world. Hannah perfectly exemplifies this idea because after changing her life, she has not only helped thousands of people to get fitter but also wants to help create a more equitable society. This is why for her, the annual Oxfam India Trailwalker Virtual Challenge is not just about fitness but about making a difference.

As this year’s Oxfam India Trailwalker Virtual Challenge begins on 5th August to end on 14th just before India’s 75th Independence Day, Hannah is all set to participate once again and believes others should too.

Hannah says, be it fitness or social transformation, change begins with small steps and shares that when she was struggling with her weight, she decided to work towards holistic health and become fit for life. She started running marathons, mastered CrossFit and Zumba, did weight training, practiced martial arts, and learned that fitness can never be one-dimensional.

She adds, “The same is true for social change. It has to be multidimensional and purpose-driven but it can begin with like-minded citizens deciding to do their bit one step at a time. I often think of Anne Frank who said memorably, “How wonderful it is that nobody needs to wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.” I believe it is possible to bring about positive change and the Trailwalker is one such opportunity to make a difference where each joining contribution of INR 1000 will support Oxfam India’s work on the ground.”

The 10-day Oxfam India Trailwalker Virtual Challenge begins on 5th August 2022 and will end on 14th of August 2022. The registrations have begun.
