Mumbai: Audiences are already eagerly awaiting Umesh Shukla’s next offering All is Well, after the riveting success of Oh My God! which went on to set a trend of sorts with several religious satires being churned out.
Another feature intrinsic in Shukla’s films is a certain Gujarati flavor and this happened to be the case even in the Abhishek Bachchan, Asin and Rishi Kapoor starrer.
Veteran actress Supriya Pathak who essays the role of Abhishek’s mother in the film , truly had a blast on the sets as she bonded with directed Umesh Shukla over all things gujarati ! The two would converse in their mother tongue on the sets and co-star Rishi Kapoor would often intervene and tease them in broken Gujarati.
Says a source, ” Much like the title of the film , there was a lot of positivity and merry making on the sets. Umesh and Supriya would constantly talk in Gujarati, while Rishi Kapoor would attempt to and join in their banter”.
When contacted said Umesh Shukla, “I know Supriyaji for many years now, but we hadn’t met in the longest time. So, when we met on the sets, we caught up between shots. Both of us know Gujarati, so we ended up conversing in the language more often. Rishiji would often tease us, saying, ‘Gujjus are taking over the set.’ But when Gujarati food was brought to the set he would relish it.”
