Eid and Salman Khan’s movie release has become quite synonymous, with each year witnessing a blockbuster movie by Salman Khan. The superstar with his next ‘Sultan’ is again gearing up to give us another entertainer this year at Eid. But why only Eid, is it lucky for Salman? Let’s talk about box office collection of the star’s Eid release.
Salman’s first Eid release was in the year 2009 opposite Ayesha Takia, which was a remake of a hit Telugu Movie. ‘Wanted’ was the year’s second highest grosser, earning Rs 107 crores just in India.
Chulbul Pandey’s action and comic timing stole everyone’s heart in 2010, earning a whooping Rs 140 crores domestically. The movie was produced by Arbaz Khan and saw debutant Sonakshi Sinha.
With his charismatic performance as a personal bodyguard, Kareena Kapoor and Salman Khan starrer this movie, broke records by becoming highest opener. This 2011 flic was a remake of Malyalam film by the same name and garnered 100 crore.
Ek Tha Tiger
EkTha Tiger became an instant hit before the release, reason: the ultimate pairing of Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif(reportedly Salman’s ex) as RAW and ISI agent who fell in love. The film however broke all-time record and became a mega blockbuster with the premier earnings in 2012.
Perhaps, Salman’s absence at Eid and a release after a gap of one year, can be termed as one of the biggest reason why Kick flooded the box office with a gross total of Rs 600 crore worldwide, in 2014. His unconventional pairing opposite Sri Lankan beauty, Jacqueline Fernandez was also welcomed by the audience
Repeating the magical pairing of Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor (they starred opposite each other in Bodyguard), Kabir Khan gave us a magical film. The film received accolades from both critics and the masses and became second highest earner of 2015 with a collection of Rs 606 crores worldwide.
