Actor Sidharth Malhotra interacted with media after release of his film ‘Ittefaq’ on Saturday in Mumbai. while interacting with media, Sidharth stated that it’s bonus that ‘Ittefaq’ is doing well at the box office.
Talking about box-office collection of ‘Ittefaq’, Sidharth said, “At the beginning of the film, we did not had certain kind of expectations with this film in terms of box-office collections because it’s not a typical commercial film. We just wanted to ensure that people should like story of the film and performances from us and it was more important to us but now its bonus that the film is doing well at the box-office.”
Talking about content of the film, Sidharth said, “The response for the film on its first day was really good and the kind of business film is doing without promotion is overwhelming. people are getting out of the theatre by praising our film and that is also reflecting on the box-office. In this film content is really strong so we didn’t have to do anything. I think content speaks for itself and that is what happening with the film so we all are excited.
Talking about director of ‘Ittefaq’ Abhay Chopra who made his debut as a director with this film, Sidharth said, “It’s not a commercial film. it doesn’t have naach-gaana (dance-songs) and locations which can attract the people. when people come to watch a film by only watching its promo then it shows their interest for the film. It’s a debut film of Abhay Chopra. I think we have introduced very good director to the film industry and I hope that I will work with him again”
When asked him whether there was in any kind of insecurities when film is less promoted, Sidharth said, “No… in fact, it has reflected in a positive way. People look the film with clean mind as they don’t have idea what the film is all about. I think the best interval chatter that I heard that people were chatting about who is the real killer in the film, which hasn’t happened in many years as no one has ventured in this genre for many years so we all are excited as this film seems fresh and new to the audience”
Talking about confidence he gained after doing film like ‘Ittefaq’, Sidharth said, “I gained lot of confidence after doing this film. This film doesn’t come under safe zone. We were playing characters in the film and this film didn’t had commercial hero or heroine and flamboyance so definitely when such kind of films work then it increases you confidence as an actor to experiment in different kind of genres.
