After being pushed back by 2 months during the lockdown, the Academy Awards i.e. Oscars were finally held on Sunday i.e. 25 April at the historic Union Station located in Los Angeles. Proper COVID protocols were followed and the guestlist for the function only consisted of Nominees and their guests along with the presenters for the night.

The film Mank directed by David Fincher was the film that led 10 nominations in major categories. It won two awards for cinematography and production design. However, Chloe Zhao’s Nomadland was the film that bagged the most wins in the category of ‘Best Picture’, ‘Best Director’ and ‘Best Actress In a Leading Role’ for Frances McDormand. This year’s ceremony also shattered glass ceilings for being quite historic. Chloe Zhao became the first woman of colour to win Best Director while the women who won the ‘Best Hair and Makeup Award’ i.e. Mia Neal and Jamika Wilson became the first black stylists in history to achieve that honour.
