Renowned actress Rekha has been the epitome of beauty, grace and poise through so many years. Be it anyone young or old, this diva has carved a special place for herself in everyone’s heart. Today, Rekha celebrates her birthday. She debuted into the showbiz world and starred as a child artist in the Telugu film ‘Rangula Ratnam’ when she was only 13 years old. Her first credit as an actress was for the Kannada film in 1969 titled ‘Operation Jackpot Nalli C.I.D 999’. She also began her career in Bollywood through this year as well from the film ‘Anjana Safar’ but it apparently got released in the year 1979.
Her first official film that marked her debut in Bollywood was ‘Sawan Bhadon’ which became an instant hit. She then starred in films like Pran Jaye Par Vachan Na Jaye (1974), Raampur Ka Lakshman (1972), Kahani Kismat Ki (1973) and so on. She, however, began gaining prominence for her acting abilities through films like ‘Do Anjaane’, ‘Aap Ki Khatir’ and ‘Ghar’. It was through her authentic portrayal in ‘Ghar’, she earned her first Filmfare nomination in the ‘Best Actress’ category. She also attained the status of one of the most successful actresses of that time after her appearance in ‘Muqaddar Ka Sikandar’.

In the 80’s era, she experimented with the comedy genre through films like ‘Khubsoorat’, ‘Joothi’, ‘Chashme Buddor’, ‘Biwi Ho Toh Aisi’, and so on. Her recent appearance on the silver screen includes, ‘Shamitabh’, ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana: Phir Se’.
