Today marks the birthday of renowned actor Kay Kay Menon. He is not only recognised for his contributions within Hindi cinema but also Telugu, Tamil, Marathi and Gujarati cinema. He is considered one of the most versatile actor to have come of the Indian film industry as whatever role he portrays on screen, he dons it like a second skin. However, he is mostly lauded for his intense and gritty portrayals.
Before entering the film industry he was avidly involved in theatre productions and debuted there alongside Naseeruddin Shah in ‘Mahatma Vs Gandhi’. He has also been part of the television industry as he appeared in shows like ‘Pradhan Mantri’ and telefilms like Last Train To Mahakali and Zebra 2. It was in 1995, that he entered the Bollywood industry with a minor role in a film called ‘Naseem’.
He soon bagged his lead role and appeared in ‘Bhopal Express’. Menon garnered recognition through films like ‘Black Friday’, ‘Paanch’, Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, Deewar, Silsilay, Sarkar and so on. The actor garnered critical acclaim through his commendable roles in films like ‘Mumbai Meri Jaan’, ‘Life In A Metro’, ‘Gulaal’, ‘Shahid’ and ‘Haider’.
He also made a web series debut in the year 2018 with the show ‘The Great Indian Dysfunctional Family’ available in ALT Balaji and ‘Special OPS’ directed by Neeraj Pandey on Disney+ Hotstar.
