Critically acclaimed filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj turns 55 today. He stepped into the world of Bollywood through his melodious music compositions that won many hearts and are well appreciated till date. He later on experimented with directing and writing films, due to which he was lauded for his climacteric vision and artistry.

Bhardwaj is a great fan of literature and has adapted famous tragedies by worldwide recognised playwright, William Shakespeare into films like Maqbool (from Macbeth), Omkara (from Othello) and Haider (from Hamlet). He also adapted the short story by Ruskin Bond titled ‘Susanna’s Seven Husbands’ into the dark comedy ‘Saath Khoon Maaf’.

His other works include, ‘The Blue Umbrella’, ‘Kaminey’, ‘Makdee’, ‘Patakha’ and so on.
