Today marks Rajkumar Rao’s birthday. He is one of the rearest and most versatile talents we have in the Indian film industry. Often known for his serious roles, the actor has experimented with many genres of film in his career spanning to 10 years in the industry!
He started off his journey as an actor by appearing in renowned filmmaker Dibakar Banerjee’s film ‘Love Sex Aur Dhokha’ in 2010. He also did side roles in popular pictures like the Gangs of Wasseypur franchise by Anurag Kashyap and Talaash: The Answer Lies Within featuring Aamir Khan.

However, it was in 2013 that he received recognition for his performance in Kai Po Che! A buddy film directed by Abhishek Kapoor featuring him with the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput and Amit Sadh. He critically appreciated for his hard-hitting performance as Shahid Azmi in Hansal Mehta’s ‘Shahid’ in 2013 as well. He also won a national award for Best Actor for his portrayal for the role and also the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor.
He also experimented with his genre of films when he appeared in the romantic comedy ‘Queen’, Dolly Ki Doli, Bareilly Ki Barfi, Stree and so on. He also brought laurels to the entire nation when his film ‘Newton’ became India’s official entry for the Academy Awards (Oscars) in the foreign-language film category.
As of now on the work front, his film ‘Ludo’ with a multi starrer cast of Fatima Sana Shaikh, Sanya Malhotra, Abhishek Bachchan, Aditya Roy Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi Rohit Saraf will be released soon on Netflix. It has been directed by Anurag Basu.
