Multitalented artist Prasoon Joshi, who is not only a lyricist but a poet and also a screenwriter is celebrating his birthday today! Before entering the Bollywood industry, he kickstarted his career under Ogilvy & Mather situated in Delhi. After 10 years he moved to McCann-Erickson as the Executive Vice-President and National Creative Director. He soon ventured into the world of advertising campaign for NDTV, Marico, Coca-Cola, LG, Perfetti and so on.
It was through Rajkumar Santoshi’s 2001 directorial, Lajja that he debuted into the Bollywood industry. He penned down the song ‘Kaun Dagar Kaun Shehar’ for the film which was received well critically as well as commercially. After that, there was no looking back and he soon worked on films like Taare Zameen Par, Rang De Basanti, Fanaa, Black, Delhi 6 and so on.
Joshi is also the holder of 3 Filmfare awards in the category of Best Lyricist for Chand Sifarish (Fanaa), and Maa (Taare Zameen Par) two times in a row from 2007-2008. He again won in 2014 in the same category for the song Zinda (Bhaag Milkha Bhaag). He is also a 2 time National Awardee and has been honoured by the Padma Shri for his contribution in films and arts.
Another feather was added to his cap when he was appointed as the chairman of Central Board of Film Certification back in 2017.
