South sensation Nagarjuna is celebrating his 61st birthday today! He has mostly dominated the world of Telugu cinema but has also worked in Tamil and Hindi films. So far in his career spanning for 34 years, he has appeared in more than 100 films till date.

A lesser-known fact about the actor is that before officially debuting as a lead in 1986 with the film ‘Vikram’. He portrayed the role of a child artist in films like Sadigundalu (1967) and Velugu Needalu (1961) where his father, legendary actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao essayed the role of his father.

After starring in blockbuster hits like ‘Manam’, ‘Oopiri’, ‘Super’, Ranjana’ in the South industry. He also debuted into the world of Bollywood through the 1990 film Shiva by Ram Gopal Varma. He, later on, starred in many Hindi films likeΒ  ‘Khuda Gawah’, ‘Drohi’, ‘Criminal’, ‘Mr. Bechara’ and so on. He has 3 National Film Awards, 9 Nandi Awards (given for excellence in Telugu cinema) and 3 Filmfare Awards south to his name.

Apart from acting, Nagarjuna is also recognised for his notable social work. He and his wife Amala are the co-founders of an animal welfare society called ‘Blue Cross of Hyderabad’.
