Today marks the birthday of legendary icon Kamal Haasan. His legacy is so great that many of his avid fans consider him to be the greatest living actor in the history of Indian cinema in the current times.

1. He entered the world of cinema when he was merely 6 years old. Even at such a tender age, the actor ended up winning an award for his portrayal. The film that he debuted in was Kalathur Kannama in 1959 where he played an orphan and got respected President’s Gold Medal.
2. In the year 1994, Kamal became the first actor to charge a fee of Rs 1 crore per film he stars in.
3. Known to be versatile in every way, his talent is not only limited to acting. He is a celebrated producer, director, technician, singer, dancer as well as a make-up artist. The actor travelled to the United States to learn how to do makeup from the scratch that involves prosthetics so that he could attempt it himself!
4. Haasan is also a noted polyglot. He is efficient in multiple languages like Hindi, English, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada. He has films in every single one of these languages except for English.
5. The artist has made history by being the only actor to have the most number of Filmfare awards, 19 to be precise! But Kamal being his humble and kind self requested to the award jury of Filmfare to not nominate him in future award ceremonies so that new emerging talents within the industry have better opportunities and chances to win such prestigious awards.
