Although the film was about the life of Sid, played by Ranbir Kapoor, Konkona’s portrayal of Aisha had a lasting impact on everyone. She was very different than any of the leading ladies portrayed in the Indian cinema that time who had an identity of her own and wasn’t just there to hype up the leading hero.

2. Shireen Aslam – Lipstick Under My Burkha

The film featured an ensemble cast where the actress played the role of a burkha donning wife who is hiding her job of being a saleswoman from her sexist husband. She represented several women who are told to stay at home and give all their attention to household work and kids beautifully through this film.

3. Kadambari Devi – Kadambari

Konkona was exceptional in this film called ‘Kadambari’, where she played the role of the sister-in-law to one of the nation’s greatest writer Rabindranath Tagore. Both of them are depicted to share a one of a kind bond which eventually leads to a lot of trouble for her.

4. Mr and Mrs Iyer

It is one of the best films to come out of Indian cinema. Mr and Mrs Iyer featured Konkona playing the role of a shy housewife who is on a bus ride to meet her husband with her kid. She comes across a man named Raja Chowdhury and finds herself getting drawn towards him.

5. 15 Park Avenue

This film captured one of the most challenging roles the actress ever played on screen. She played the role of a woman suffering from schizophrenia, which had never been attempted by any other artist at that time. Her character, Mitali believed that she and her husband along with 5 children live in a place called 15 Park Avenue, hence the name of the film.
