Today marks the birthday of Bollywood actress Richa Chadha. She is considered to be one of the finest actresses we have in today’s time in the entertainment industry. Before pursuing acting in films, Richa has been a model and also done theatre. She made her debut with the 2008 film ‘Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!’ which was directed by Dibakar Bannerjee. She, however, had her breakthrough in the year 2012 and there was no looking back after that.

Here we bring you the list of all the fine performances by Richa Chadha that prove her versatility:

1. Nagma Khatoon – Gangs of Wasseypur

Her role as Nagma Khatoon in the film, Gangs Of Wasseypur was something no one had ever witnessed. Her character is the first wife of Sardar Khan (played by Manoj Bajpayee) and is fierce. She is unapologetic brutal when it comes to calling people out when they’re in the wrong. A ferocious female character like her was something that was missing from rural crime dramas.

2. Bholi Punjaban – Fukrey

The actress played the role of a notorious don in this coming of age comedy that was an instant hit. The film wouldn’t have been the same if a character like Bholi Punjaban wouldn’t have been played by her. Her modern slangs and intimidating attitude became everyone’s favourite.

3. Devi Pathak – Masaan

After playing such fierce characters, Richa’s portrayal of Devi Pathak blew everyone and proved her versatility in the true sense. In Masaan, she played the role of a young woman who is trapped in the world of shame and blackmail when a sexual encounter gets caught by some ravenous cops. She displayed guilt, strength and spirit of her character in such a way that it could have never been done by anyone else.

4. Hiral Gandhi – Section 375

Although the narrative of the film was quite slow, the screenplay is what kept everyone engaged all thanks to the screen presence of both Akshaye Khanna and Richa Chadha. She plays the role of a lawyer, Hiral Gandhi who represents the victim in a sexual assault case. Some of her power-packed dialogues about the whole justice system were eye-opening.

5. Meenu – Panga

Richa Chadha played the role of Meenu in the film. She is a Kabaddi player and one of the closest friends of Jaya, played by Kangana Ranaut who is the protagonist of the film. Her portrayal of a sincere friend who is always ready to support Jaya is commendable. Both of them shared an amazing bond on screen.
