1. Chanda/ Leni – Dev D

This was her debut into Bollywood. Right off the bat, Her character strikes you and you begin to grow attached to her and the terrible circumstances she goes through. Her character refuses to live her in which her choices are shames. Considering it was her first-ever film, she portrayed the role like a pro.

2. Ruth – That Girl In Yellow Boots

This has to be one of the few gutsy films that came out of Bollywood. Kalki also co-wrote this feature about a girl from Britain on a quest to locate her mysterious father in India. It has captured the essence of the filthy side of society quite well. Her character’s silence in a lot of scenes speaks volumes.

3. Aditi – Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani

After portraying a lot of dark and intense roles, her involvement in a mainstream film came as a breath of fresh air. Her role as Aditi, who is a loyal friend will bring a smile to your face as to witness all the characters explore and adapt to adulthood in their own manner.

4. Amy – Shaitan 

She played the role of a disturbed girl who has been hiding her emotional turmoil about her mom’s death and distracts herself by partying with her close friends. Soon their life changes when they are met with a hit and run incident and try to get themselves out of it. Her role proved her immense versatility.

5. Laila – Margarita with a Straw

This film was a masterpiece directed by Sonali Bose where Kalki played the role of a specially-abled girl who has cerebral palsy. This film was an effort to portray how physically challenged individuals wish to live normal lives. The film encompasses Laila’s journey as she strives to discover her true self.
