It has been 18 years since Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor made his debut on the movie screens with the film ‘Ishq Vishk’. Needless to say, the actor’s journey has been like a rollercoaster as he dived onto portray multiple characters over the years.

As Shahid celebrates his special day today, we are here with a list of some of the best performances from his career so far. Here we go:

1. Kaminey – Guddu/Charlie

In this film, Shahid Kapoor had a double role. Saying that he nailed it would be an understatement as he was brilliant at it! Despite the fact that he looks similar in both roles, how he carried himself while doing it was so distinct that it made a huge difference. It is considered one of the best dark comedies by Vishak Bhardwaj.

2. Jab We Met – Aditya Kashyap

Usually known for playing cheerful roles on-screen before it, Shahid’s portrayal of  Aditya Kashyap was like a breath of fresh air for everyone. He played the role of a depressed businessman from Mumbai who comes across a feisty girl who manages to change his perspective towards life. He had two very distinct personalities during the first and the second half of the film that impressed everyone.

3. Kabir Singh – Kabir Singh

Although the film was a massive hit at the box office, there was a lot of controversies that surrounded the film about the depiction of abuse and toxic masculinity. However, people often forget that the reason why the movie felt disturbing to some of them was because of how good Shahid was at portraying his character. No one could have portrayed the role of an aggressive drug addict surgeon better than him.

4. Tommy Singh – Udta Punjab

Although the film contained three distinct stories, Shahid’s character Tommy Singh stood out the most. He played the role of a drug-addicted rockstar hailing from Punjab whose life completely changes after being imprisoned for his doings. His character arc was such that it made you hate him at first glance and you eventually find yourself rooting for him as the story unfolds.

5. Haider – Haider

It has been said that Shahid Kapoor didn’t even charge to star in this cinematic masterpiece. It was a movie adaptation of Shakespeare’s play Hamlet. Shahid played the role of the rising prince who contemplates on ‘to be or not to be’ as he played the character with such ease while mesmerising everyone who watched him do it.
