Dia Mirza

Actress Dia Mirza attended panel discussion organized by India Film Project on the lines of changing dynamics of Mumbai film industry along with Neha Dhupia, Kunal Kapoor, and Shashank Khaitan on Saturday in Mumbai. While interacting with media, Dia asserted that it’s a waste of time if filmmakers don’t have something special to say in the name of entertainment.

When asked Dia, what kind of changes she wants to see in entertainment industry as a whole, she said, “We should understand as an industry that now audience is getting attracted towards content driven cinema. They are most interested to see which film has message or have something meaningful to convey, it’s a waste of time to make a film which don’t have something special to say in the name of entertainment.”

Talking about India film project, Dia said, “At this event, we are discussing on the changing dynamics of Mumbai film industry. I feel when you talk about subject like this, not only good things come up but I think it also helps to change people’s mindset. In last 6-7 years, we have witnessed lot of changes in cinema and to discuss what those changes have been will only lead to more positive changes.”

“India film project is wonderful platform and opportunity not just for film enthusiast but for everybody who believes in content creation and power of content creation. Today courtesy to the internet, connectivity in mobile phones, people have choice to view different kind of medium so how we should use it and what kind of changes us as an industry can bring into it that we will discuss here.”

“Its 7th year of Indian Film Project and I am very happy to be associated with it not only as an actress but as a film producer and individual who represents my industry. I am really proud to share platform with wonderful filmmaker like Shashank khaitan and Neha Dhupia.”

When asked what kind of interaction she will have with film students, Dia said, “We will share our life experiences with students and if from that they get any lessons then it will be great. I think the effort will be to keep a freewheeling conversation where they will get insight into why we make choices of what we do and how we are breaking the mould.”

“If you see example of me or Shashank and Neha, as an individual, we have tried to break the mould and did things which reflected our personal choices. I started film production at the age of 26 and at that time, it was unheard of for an actress to turn into production. Neha is also doing her work through her talk show so it’s totally new identity and a new aspect about her that she is bringing.”

“Shanshank made a beautiful film like Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya and he chose a subject that was entertaining and mainstream but it had such wonderful message to convey so its combination of people who have choices and who like to make them and will be expressing them at this event”

Dia Mirza next will be seen in Sanjay Dutt Biopic directed by Raj Kumar Hirani in which she plays role of Sanjay Dutt’s wife Manyata Dutt.
