Actress, Mother, Entrepreneur, Activist, budding organic farmer, environmentalist, yoga enthusiast as her Twitter bio describes her, Juhi Chawla recently launched a project close to her heart, Citizens for Tomorrow that will look after creating awareness for the well-being of the environment & look at creating an impact with gradual steps for the betterment of the our planet at large.
Citizens for Tomorrow primarily works on creating noise against the harmful effects of plastic to our environment.
Juhi unofficially kickstarted the first initiative under the Citizens for Tomorrow project in association with her co-owned IPL team, KKR by installing dustbins in the stadium & announcing #Planta6 under which trees were planted in the vicinity of Eden Garden equivalent to the number of sixes that were hit in their homeground.
After the IPL madness with Juhi’s team reaching the semi-finals, Juhi decided to walk an extra mile to share her project & her campaign #WarAgainstPlastic. A source close to the actor shares, ‘Charity begins at home. Post IPL, Juhi wanted to pursue the cause aggressively. There can’t be a complete ban on the plastic but we can take baby steps towards it. Juhi has handpicked a Bamboo toothbrush, paper straws, a bamboo speaker with a handwritten note to be sent to her close circle of family & friends as a step to start the movement. We hope the Citizens for Tomorrow family grows bigger & we can make some difference to the society. We’ve just begun.’
