Just for the record, Alaya was born to actress Pooja Bedi and businessman Farhan Ebrahim Furniturewala. She has a younger brother, Omar Furniturewala, and one half-sibling Zaan Furniturewala. She is the granddaughter of actor Kabir Bedi and former model and classical dancer Protima Bedi.
Alaya has studied at Jamnabai Narsee School in Mumbai. Before making her film debut, she did a diploma in acting from New York Film Academy. She is also a trained contemporary and Kathak dancer.
