It is undoubtedly a fact that comedy was his forte. He has entertained several generations through his quirky roles and mannerisms through many comedic roles he played in the movies belonging to the Indian film industry

It is often said that Jagdeep was a master improviser and always preferred adding his own touch to the comedic role portrayed by him despite the traditional way of sticking to the script.

  1. Havaldar Thanedar Tehsildar Singh in Ilaaka (1989)

Jagdeep played the extremely hilarious role of Havaldar Thanedar Tehsildar Singh who engages in a rib-tickling banter with Chhote Sami, as portrayed by Johnny lever in the 1989 release, Ilaaka. The film also starred actors like Dharmendra, Rakhee, Mithun Chakraborty, Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit and so on.

This scene from the film Agent Vinod definitely proves that Jagdeep was a master expressionist. In this movie from 1977, he played Chandu “James Bond”, a comedic sidekick to Mahendra Sandhu, the lead of the film. The film also featured other actors like Asha Sachdev, Rehana Sultan, Iftekhar, Nazir Hussain and so on.

This film from 1961 is from the year when Jadeep had just begun establishing himself as an actor specialising in comedy. He portrayed the role of Murli Manohar in the movie. Jagdeep played the role of Bankelal Bhopali in this classic film which was heavily inspired by his portrayal of Soorma Bhopali from Sholay (more on that later). The film starred Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Raveena Tandon, Karishma Kapoor and so on.
