Shahid Kapoor who is all set to step into the shoes of a young lawyer in Batti Gul Meter Chalu will undergo an extreme makeover.

The actor will be seen essaying the role of a young boy in his 20’s and costume designers Neelanchal Ghosh and Darshan Jalan, who’ve also worked on Shree Narayan Singh’s Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, have been working overtime to get the look right.

Comments producer Prernaa Arora, “Shahid plays a young local boy from Uttarakhand who is a diehard romantic.The costume designer duo has been working with artisans in villages of the North Indian state and sourcing fabrics locally to ensure authenticity. Shahid will be wearing lots of bright sweaters and jackets since the story unfolds in winter. Now, all Shahid requires is a young haircut and a clean-shaven, boyish look”.

The producer also divulges that Shraddha Kapoor’s character in the film also belongs to a small town and she will be sporting a lot of ethnic wear as part of her look. She adds, “She’s a bubbly girl and quite notorious in the first half of the film. Post interval, her character undergoes a transformation and with her behavior her look will also change”.

The team of the film including the actors, filmmaker Shree Narayan Singh, producer Prernaa Arora and writers Siddharth-Garima have been sitting on script reading sessions and acting workshops.
Says Prernaa, “We recently had a reading session with chai, dinner and lots of laughter. Shahid is a terrific actor and has been spending hours every day getting each line and punctuation in his dialogue sheet right. Along with Shree, Siddharth and Garima, he has been adding his own humour to the character and constantly improvising. He’s mastered the local dialect after undergoing training since the beginning of the year”.
