On the auspicious day of Raksha Bandhan made to celebrate the brother-sister bond, superstar Akshay Kumar has announced a new film which is also titled ‘Raksha Bandhan’. To announce this great news, the actor also shared a poster of the film featuring him lovingly embracing 4 girls, who would supposedly be seen essaying the role of his sisters in the film.
The film is being directed by Anand L Rai (known for Raanjhanaa, Tanu Weds Manu) and is written by Himanshu Sharma. While sharing the first look of the film, Akshay Kumar on his social media handle wrote, “Hardly ever in life does one come across a story that touches your heart so deeply and so instantly…it’s the quickest I’ve signed a film in my career.”

The actor also mentioned the significance of the film to him and that he is dedicating this film to his own sister Alka, “A story that will make you laugh and it will make you cry. And it will make us realise how blessed are those who have sisters. Dedicating this film, #Rakshabandhan to my dear sister, Alka and to the most special bond in the world…that of a brother and sister.”
He also mentioned that his own sister has turned producer for this project along with the director, Anand L Rai, “It makes me happiest that she is presenting and producing this film along with ace director Anand L Rai. Can’t thank him enough for bringing me one of the most special films of my life.”
The poster says that the film is scheduled to release on 5th November 2021.
Known to be one of the most versatile actors from the industry, Akshay has the maximum number of released in a year compared to his other contemporaries. Hence, he will be seen starring in films like, ‘Sooryavanshi’, ‘Laxmmi Bomb’, ‘Bachchan Pandey’, ‘Atrangi Re’, ‘Bell Bottom’ and so on.
