Laxmii: One good thing about the film you shouldn’t miss out on

There is one thing that every watcher has agreed upon and that is how amazing Sharad Kelkar’s performance was in ‘Laxmii’!

Akshay Kumar’s ‘Laxmii’ was one of the most awaited films of 2020. Earlier meant for a Dussehra release on the silver screens, the film released on OTT platform of Disney+ Hotstar due to the lock down protocols amidst COVID-19. The film released yesterday i.e. 9 November 2020. It opened to mixed responses. While one half that was expecting a masala entertainer was thoroughly delighted, the others who wanted a ‘larger than life’ experience found the film satisfactory.

However, there is one thing that every watcher has agreed upon and that is how amazing Sharad Kelkar’s performance was! That’s right! Sharad Kelkar was also part of the film and had quite an important role to play. He essayed the role of the transgender person, Laxmii whose spirit posses the body of Akshay Kumar’s character Asif in the film.

There is a segment in the film that reveals the struggle Laxmii had to go through during her younger years and that definitely struck an emotional chord with the fans.Β  The response has been overwhelming for Sharad Kelkar’s stellar acting skills.

Apart from Akshay Kumar, Kiara Advani and Sharad Kelkar, other important roles were played by Rakesh Sharma, Ayesha Raza, Manu Rishi Chadha and Ashwini Kalsekar. ‘Laxmii’ was directed by Raghava Lawrence, who also helmed the original Tamil film ‘Kanchana’ the Hindi adaptation is based on.
