Rajkummar Rao who is currently busy promoting his upcoming film Newton during an interview he said actors are type cast in our industry very easily.
Rajkummar was asked about playing such vastly different characters and if he feels nervous about taking them on, he said, “I find myself very lucky that I am able to perform in such different characters and people are still looking forward to my work. Actors are type cast in our industry very easily, but I am thankful that it’s not the case with me. People want to see me in Bareilly Ki Barfi and also in Trapped and now as Subhas Chandra Bose, which is surprising because I am not a conventional actor to play Bose. When people offer me such roles I take them as a challenge, to push my limits and to come out of my comfort zone. I think this is my high as an actor.”
The veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan sent a handwrittennote and flowers to Rajkummar Rao after watching his performance in Bareilly ki Barfi when asked about the same, Rajkummar said, “The letter that Bachchan sir sent me is very important to me. It will be a very special moment for me all my life. I would love to work with him someday. Since childhood, I have been listening to his name and I just hope someday I have the opportunity to work with him whether a film or web-series.”
Raj is currently experiencing a great turn in his career where he has released 2 films and working on a web series that people are very excited about when asked how is he dealing with this and how he worked towards these characters, he said “This current patch is a very exciting time in my life, I am doing a lot of great and different films, people are getting the chance to see me in different roles. As artists that’s what we hope for so it’s a great feeling.
When I am told about my roles, I only think about my character and carry all the responsibilities I have towards my character, say if he has to put on weight, I put it on too. I try my best to implement the things that my character is going through, in mylife soi can understand it and incorporate it.”
Rajkummar was last seen in commercial film ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ directed by Ashwini Iyer Tiwari and starring with Ayushmann Khurrana and Kriti Sanon. His future projects include 5 weddings with Nargis Fakhri, Love Soniaby Tabrez Noorani, Omerta by Hansal Mehta, and Ittefaq with Sidharth Malhotra and Sonakshi Singh and the Web Series Bose.
Newton presented by Drishyam Films will release on 22nd September.
