Mumbai: Christmas is that time of the year when kids eagerly await Santa Claus and Bollywood fans wait to see Aamir Khan on the big screen. RajkumarHirani is undoubtedly one of the most honest filmmakers who always directs a movie with message be it ‘Munnabhai’ or his last ‘3 Idiots’. After five long years Hirani is back with ‘PK’ in which he tries to challenge the religious rational and he couldn’t have asked for a better cast than Aamir Khan an actor who is talented and stands for social causes.

The story starts is Belgium where Jaggu (Anushka Sharma) is headed for a Bachchan concert and ends up meeting SarfrazYousuf (Sushant Singh Rajput).

Both become friends but Jaggu distances from Sarfraz when she finds he is from Pakistan, however as fate has it sheends up falling in love with him. Jaggu’s parents are concerned about their daughter falling for a Pakistani so consult Spiritual Guru Tapasvi (SaurabhShukla) who predicts that they would never get married. Fate has something else in store for Jaggu as moves back to hometown Delhi and pursues a TV report career.

While travelling in Metro she meets PK (Aamir Khan) who is distributing ‘Missing’ pamphlets featuring gods and goddess pictures. Jaggu pursues PK as she feels he would make an interesting story and ends up discovering he is an alien.

Aamir Khan is outstanding as ‘PK’ from the body language to dialect to expressions he gets everything bang on. Anushka Sharma is exceptional as Jaggu she is effervescent and effortless keeps pace with Aamir. Sanjay Dutt is a delight to watch as Bhairon Singh and he manages to make audience laugh in his cameo. SaurabhShukla does a great job as ‘Godman’ .BomanIrani fails to make an impression. PrakshitSaini does a decent job.

Hirani tries to drive a great point in the movie that ‘Religion should be more about faith and less about Rituals’. The filmmaker rationally makes his point in first half; however the second half slows down the show.

In fact second half reminds you of Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Oh my God’ and it gets a little repetitive. Romance tracks are also half baked be it between Jaggu-Sarfraz or between PK- Jaggu. Screenplay by Hirani and Abhijhat Joshi is interesting but at the same time could be more gripping.

Cinematographer C. K. Muraleedharan does a great job. Even the Alien Angle adds some fun and mysterious element to the movie. ‘Char Kadam’ and ‘Love is waste of time’ by ShantanuMoitra are beautiful melodies and stay with you after the movie.

PK is definitely worth a watch as it conveys a great message without being preachy. Aamir Khan ensures that his fans of all age groups are enlightened and entertained. PK is a Perfect Christmas treat.
