SHANIA TWAIN, BILLBOARD

Singing Superstar and Universal Music artist Shania Twain debuted at number 1 on Billboard 200 album charts 10 days after the release of her first studio album in 15 years, “NOW”.

After her album “UP” in 2002, “NOW” is a new and the artist’s second album to have been No. 1. Her earlier album “UP” stayed at number one at the charts for five weeks straight. Twain made her Billboard chart debut on March 27, 1993 with the single “What Made You Say That,”

Post its release on September 29th, the album has already garnered wide appreciation, following Thomas Rhett’s Life Changes. According to Nielsen Music, the set starts with 137,000 equivalent album units earned in the first week of October. Out of the 137000, 134,000 were in traditional album sales — the third-largest sales week for a country album in 2017, and the largest for a woman in nearly two years after Miranda Lambert’s Platinum spent a week at No. 1 in 2014.

This is the first chart-topping country set by a female artist in past three years. Shania is a five-time GRAMMY Award-winner and the reigning Queen of Country Pop. With more than 75 million albums sold worldwide and U.S. sales topping 34.5 million, Shania remains the top-selling female country artist of all time. Shania’s albums include her Platinum-selling 1993 debut, SHANIA TWAIN; the GRAMMY Award-winning, Double Diamond-selling 1995 release, THE WOMAN IN ME; COME ON OVER, the best-selling studio album in Soundscan history by a female artist in any genre and the best-selling country album of all time with over 40 million units sold worldwide; and UP!, Shania’s third consecutive Diamond-selling album release.

The album previously debuted at No. 1 in the U.S. and U.K. Albums Chart. Shania’s comeback release also reigned the top spot on Australia’s albums chart in 15 years.
