Just in time for Women’s Day, Variety Magazine has unveiled its list honouring women across the globe for the impact they have caused with their work.

The list honours India’s leading actress Deepika Padukone for her contribution to cinema and partaking in philanthropic efforts along with emerging through controversies gracefully.

Fresh out of the success of her magnum opus outing Padmaavat, Deepika Padukone is touted as an Indian Icon owing to her contribution to the Entertainment Industry.

The list acknowledges the works of The 50 women from Asia and Africa, Europe and Latin America, that include performers, executives, producers and activists.

Attributing their inclusion in the list to leading the way at a time when the entertainment business has become increasingly global and being active participants in issues pertaining to women’s rights.

Introducing the actress, Variety Magazine has written, ‘The star of the recent Bollywood blockbuster “Padmaavat” faced death threats and verbal abuse from various fringe groups with poise and elan. Padukone, whose father, Prakash, was a star badminton player, used to participate in the sport before becoming a model. She is now one of the highest-paid Indian actresses and has made the leap from Bollywood movies such as “Om Shanti Om” and “Chennai Express” to Hollywood titles including “xXx: Return of Xander Cage” last year. She is also philanthropically active, starting her own Live Laugh Love Foundation, which focuses on mental illness.’

The list also features International actresses like Nicole Kidman, Salma Hayek, Gal Gadot, Daisy Ridley amongst other women dignitaries.
